Job description

Primary SEND Teacher (KS1)

We are working with a supportive primary school in West London that is seeking a dedicated KS1 SEND Teacher to join their team. This role involves teaching pupils with additional needs in Key Stage 1, providing a nurturing, structured and inclusive learning environment that supports both academic progress and personal development.

Key Responsibilities for a KS1 SEND Teacher:

Teaching & Learning
* Plan and deliver differentiated lessons aligned with the KS1 curriculum to meet a range of SEND needs.
* Adapt teaching approaches for pupils with needs such as ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties and SEMH.
* Use a variety of assessment methods to monitor progress and inform future planning.
* Create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment that supports independence and confidence.

SEND Provision
* Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support EHCP targets.
* Work closely with the SENCo to review progress and adjust provision where needed.
* Liaise with external professionals to ensure pupils receive appropriate support.
* Follow the SEND Code of Practice and maintain accurate records.

Pastoral Care
* Support pupils' emotional wellbeing using positive behaviour strategies.
* Build strong, trusting relationships to support pupils' self esteem and engagement.
* Maintain high standards of safeguarding and child protection at all times.

For this role, you will have:

Essential
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Experience teaching in Key Stage 1
* Experience supporting pupils with SEND
* Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice
* Ability to differentiate effectively and manage behaviour positively
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Desirable
* Additional SEND training or qualifications
* Experience working with EHCPs
* Knowledge of literacy and numeracy interventions
* Experience working in an inclusive mainstream primary setting

Pay rate is dependent on qualifications, experience and skills.
