Client Insider - Our Candidate Registration Process In A Nutshell

As an Education Specialist Recruitment Company, we want to ensure that we are sourcing the right candidates to meet the needs of your school. In order for us to do this, we will aim to arrange a meeting with you, so that we have a better understanding of the needs and requirements of your particular school.

One question we are asked often by schools we visit is how do we interview and vet our candidates. Therefore, I thought it would be great if we can share a blog with you which gives you an insight into our registration process!

Initial call

When we have received the CV of a candidate we believe may be suitable, we will have an initial call with them. During this call, we establish their preferences, availability, experience, qualifications and whether we view them to have the qualities and requirements that you may be looking for. We will also establish why they have applied for that particular role and what would make them a suitable candidate. If we feel they meet our criteria, we will then proceed them to the next stage and invite them to a virtual face to face interview with us.

Formal Interview

Prior to starting the interview, candidates will have gone through and completed the documents needed for us to get them cleared to work, including DBS checks and referee details provided. The virtual or in person interview allows us to delve into their experience in more detail, go through their preferences in terms of working in a Primary, Secondary or SEN school, and the locations that they are comfortable travelling to. This means that when you do receive marketing emails from us, you can be rest assured that the candidate is local and happy travelling to your area.

We will also explain to them the process, in terms of going in to schools for interview and trials and cover how we will be supporting them going forward.

Vetting

Our compliance team will then take over in terms of completing all of their checks, including processing new DBS’s and obtaining references. The aim is to have candidates vetting checks completed within 5 days, so that we can help you full your vacancies quicker. When confirmation emails are sent you to, all pertinent information will be including on the vetting document, and we are happy to send over the candidates’ references if you would like to see them.

Upon arrival to your school, candidates will have been instructed to bring their DBS and ID with them, but please do let us know if there are any other requirements or additional information you will need.

Cleared to work

Finally, once all checks are completed, candidates will be able to start working ASAP. As we know schools generally need candidates to start on a fairly immediate basis (unless planning for the new academic year), we only register candidates who can be available to start fairly immediately, with a maximum of a 1 week notice period in exceptional circumstances.

I hope this has helped you to understand our interview and vetting process a little more, and can reassure you that we have a thorough vetting process before candidates are presented to you. If you have any questions or would like to arrange a meeting with your personal consultant to help with your staffing requirements, please do give us a call on 0203 771 1138.
