Job description

Are you seeking a full time role as an SEN Teaching Assistant within the Harrow area?

We are working closely with a progressive Primary School based in Harrow who are looking for Learning Support Assistants to work in their SEN unit for children with sever learning disabilities.

The SEN Unit currently has 12 children aged between 4 and 6 all of which have EHCP's and have a diagnosis of autism and other associated learning difficlties. Some of these children are non verbal so you will need to have strategies in place to support these children such as PECS, bucket time and various interventions.

The role:

  • You will be supporting children on a one to one basis who have autism and down's syndrome
  • You will be required to meet the social, academic and emotional needs of these children
  • Work in a specialist setting offering support to teaching staff and children
  • Provide feedback to the class teacher on the pupils progress
  • Help to create an engaging learning environment
  • Must be an active listener who can provide necessary support to young children, whilst also developing skills and goals.
  • Aware of emotional needs
  • You may also be required to provide personal care

Requirements:

  • At least 6 months experience supporting SEN pupils
  • Must be flexible in supporting childrten with various abilties and needs
  • Familiar with interventions with SEN pupils
  • Knowledge and experience of PECS
  • Hard-working
  • You may also be required to provide personal care
  • Strong communication skills
  • Live in or local to Harrow
  • Personal care support is preferable
