Job description
We are partnering with an independent and inclusive school that is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SENCO to join their team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a nurturing environment that focuses on personalised learning and supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs, including social, emotional and mental health challenges.
The successful candidate will play a key role in leading and coordinating the provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring that every student receives the support they need to thrive both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities for a SENCO:
* Lead, manage and coordinate SEND provision across the school.
* Identify pupils with additional needs and ensure appropriate support strategies are implemented.
* Work closely with teachers, support staff, parents and external agencies to support pupil progress and wellbeing.
* Monitor and review the effectiveness of interventions and support plans.
* Support staff in delivering inclusive teaching practices and differentiated learning.
* Ensure the school remains compliant with SEND legislation and best practice guidance.
* Promote a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment for all pupils.
For this role, you will have:
* Previous experience supporting or teaching pupils with SEND.
* Strong knowledge of SEND practices and inclusive education.
* Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
* A patient, empathetic and proactive approach.
* QTS is preferred; however, unqualified candidates with substantial teaching experience will also be considered.
* An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
