Job description

Do you have experience working with Autistic students? Are you local to Uxbridge?

If so, we are looking for a number of SEN Teaching Assistants for a fantastic SEN Secondary School based in Uxbridge, Hillingdon. The schools aim is to provide a happy, safe and stimulating learning environment, where everyone will be inspired and supported to do their personal best.

The staff work closely to support one another and the students, helping to ensure students are continuously learning and provided equal opportunities to progress. You will have some prior experience working with SEN pupils, and be confident in managing challenging behaviour.

About the school:

The students in this school range from 11-19 years old and it is a safe, stimulating and enjoyable place to be. The school has been rated as a good school by OFSTED. The students have a wide variety of conditions including autistic spectrum disorder, global developmental delay, specific language disorders, respiratory, neurological and neuromuscular pathologies. You will be working collaboratively with the class teacher, and outside agencies such as Speech and Language Therapists.

The role:

  • To work 1:1 and in groups with SEN students
  • Help manage challenging behaviour in and out of the classroom
  • Use your initiative to encourage learning
  • Work as a team to ensure students are reaching their full potential

Requirements:

  • Lever 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or higher
  • Live local Uxbridge, or able to drive there
  • Be creative and passionate about supporting SEN pupils
  • Available full time from September
